Title: Who is the next
Post by: magmavander on August 14, 2011, 10:46:35 PM
I found one hour to write this very short snippet (01'20). As the title said, If someone feels to add something I can make it longer (well if I find one other hour of free time).

Outstanding "smooth jazz" style. Once I have some other projects mixed down and finished, I would love to work some guitar into this one.
A la prochaine...?

Very nice work, very much in your recognisable style :)
I shall watch this from the sidelines. I like the music, but just don't have the right 'feel' to contribute.

Very nice! It's sounding a bit muddy in the lower mids though, I would roll off a bit of the lower end on the piano (which sounds lovely otherwise). Might be my speakers though. It's got a great atmosphere though so definitely something to expand on. Might need something like a muted trumpet sound or so to solo over it, or a fretless bass played high.

thanks friends  ;)
You're right marc, I noticed too the muddyness. I dint EQ the song at all as I did it so quickly ;D

Absolutely great guitar lines, I love it! Wonderful inspiration.
Do you want the separated loops of each instruments ? I can upload it if you want.
MERCI

Cool - very happy you like it! :-
The guitar sound is too "shrill" (needs to be mellower), and some of the ideas are repetitive, but once I have your finished tracks the guitar can be performed again with a little more finesse...

Yes, please upload the tracks - here would be fine - I can work with MP3 files.
(the beats-per-minute, s'il vous plaît...?)

ok here it is, I have separate each instruments in two different loops.

The bpm is 96.

The drum loops are a little longer because I used a crash cymbal at the end and if I cut it at the right length the crash will be truncated, generating a click.

I dont know how you work but I suppose you can put these drum loops on separate tracks to keep the crash ?

Thanks!

I'm really glad Oren stepped in on this one, because I could swear that I've heard this song from Mag like 10 times before. It's not my intention to
desecrate your artistry Mag,but your material is becoming really redundant & I think you should mix things up a bit,no?

Just some constructive criticism,is all. :-*

@Oren....I could swear that you've been an accomplished jazz guitarist for quite some time now...5-star-epic-guitar work,my friend!! 8)

Yeah!! Very soulful play, very beautiful notes  :;
And the second guitar sound is unexpected but works very well. Great!
I wish the song to be longer ;) I enjoyed every second of your adds.
I should rework it now, just a question of time at the moment.
Thanks!

elwood : thanks, criticism is always good  ;D

For buzztunes the mp3 is ok.
But if you have your guitar's recording in wav (or mp3), it would be very cool  ;D
thanks!!

Superbly done, guys.

Super smooth picking Mr Fisher, very SteelyDan-esque.   :;

Scott,
Glad you heard this one. A perfect example of the sum being greater than the parts... ;)

James,
...yo, Steely Dan - a compliment, indeed. Thanks for listening!(http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/musik/music-smiley-001.gif)

Your part of the sum is more important than mine I'd say  ;D These melodic lines were so tasty.

Steely dan ? I agree, I didnt noticed at first but now that you say it... I am a steely fan  8)
