Title: Descent Of A Woman Post by: elwoodblues1969 on August 04, 2007, 10:24:39 PM This music was spawned from an experience with a woman that descended down on me with all of the impact of a meteor, mysterious, fascinating, random, destructive
& resulting in total annihalation of my sanity. Title: Re: Descent Of A Woman Post by: Oren on August 04, 2007, 11:59:14 PM Clean sound, Thom. And lots of fun.
From your choice of titles can we assume you're a movie buff? I was in the video business and the title selection reminds me of some of my favourites - this one, Al Pacino's "Scent of a Woman". Nice work! Oren. Title: Re: Descent Of A Woman Post by: elwoodblues1969 on August 05, 2007, 12:43:28 AM Thanks a bunch,Oren.Yes indeed,I am an avid movie fan.I have about 200 dvd's in my collection.
Some of the songs I've done were originally inspired by some bad experiences in my life, but then I turned them around & made comedic albums that have movie samples, but I did not post the comedic versions with the samples, due the fact that the PG & R ratings of the movies that are sampled have objectionable material on them,so obviously I could not post those versions here. Some of the songs were originally supposed to have lyrics to them, but I preferred to go the instrumental route. I like the way you think,as we seem to be on the same page. 8) Title: Re: Descent Of A Woman Post by: Wyatt on August 05, 2007, 01:40:17 PM Some of the songs were originally supposed to have lyrics to them, ..I thought the lyrics were terrific. ;D ..nice play on dewords; nice song. There are some very interesting instrument combinations.
Oh, did I say I'm envious of people who can do 'stuff' with percussion? Sorry, mate but I'm just going to have to hate you forever :) (well maybe not quite that long) Title: Re: Descent Of A Woman Post by: elwoodblues1969 on August 07, 2007, 07:24:34 PM Wyatt; comments much appreciated. 8)
Folderol, If you have pattern sequencing & quantizing in your set up,I don't see why you can't do what I can do with percussion? I rely heavily on pattern & quantize recording & have been for the last 17 years. I hope that you keep plugging away at your music & work on percussion,as I would like to hear some in the future. 8) Thanks a bunch for your comments. Kind regards, Elwood Title: Re: Descent Of A Woman Post by: Laraka on August 07, 2007, 11:18:26 PM Very nice tune Elwood.
I like that "squelchy" synth sound that you use. It reminds me of a similar sound in a song called "Insane Again" by J. Geils band. In their song and yours, it projects the "annihilation of sanity" quite nicely. Lots of space in the mix. Very toe-tapping and definitely a keeper. Cheers Mike Title: Re: Descent Of A Woman Post by: elwoodblues1969 on August 08, 2007, 01:53:31 AM Thanks Mike, comments are very much appreciated. 8)
It's one of my personal favorites, & songs like this seem to always happen by accident somehow, for me that is. :D Elwood |
