Title: Icelandic Post by: elwoodblues1969 on August 08, 2007, 02:08:04 AM This song is about my obsession with Iceland & my desire to vacation there. ;D
Title: Re: Icelandic Post by: folderol on August 11, 2007, 08:38:52 PM This is quite an enjoyable atmosphere piece, but the downside is I can't say just what atmosphere it evokes (I know that sounds daft). It doesn't really suggest 'Iceland' to me, although again, I don't know what would!
Title: Re: Icelandic Post by: elwoodblues1969 on August 11, 2007, 10:01:37 PM Glad you like it Folderol,as I was not sure whether or not I wanted to scrap this song.
As for the way the theme sounds,I suppose that if I had added some metallic sounds-such as a glassy bell-like instrument, then perhaps it may come across differently. Title: Re: Icelandic Post by: elv on August 16, 2007, 01:07:09 PM Hi elwood,
Didnt know you where so interested in my land ;) Nice track that for some reason reminded me of the summer here in 98 Title: Re: Icelandic Post by: elwoodblues1969 on August 16, 2007, 06:49:50 PM Hey Elv,
So your really from Iceland?!! Very cool. ;D I've always preffered colder climates & the landscapes there are very mystical.Iceland's appearance looks like that of a video game or some sort of surreal movie-I'm very fascinated,as Iceland just seems to be like being on another planet. It's also one of the the most enviromentally clean places on Earth & the natural warm springs there is a plus too. 8) Since my song reminds you of being there,I take that as a very significant compliment & it is much appreciated! Elwood Title: Re: Icelandic Post by: elv on August 16, 2007, 08:31:08 PM ;D Hope you like these pic from us.A bit old, taken about 2004
Title: Re: Icelandic Post by: elwoodblues1969 on August 17, 2007, 05:56:01 AM Thanks Elv,those pictures are fantastic! ;D
Here is a few from New Jersey,U.S.A. Elwood Title: Re: Icelandic Post by: elv on August 17, 2007, 02:35:48 PM So brainwashed from tv, that the first thing that came to my mind when hearing New Jersey, was Sopranos :(
Title: Re: Icelandic Post by: elwoodblues1969 on August 17, 2007, 02:58:48 PM I don't have a cable service,so I don't watch broadcast tv.
I only watch movies. If it makes you feel any better,my pictures are not from Caldwell,N.J. ;D There are some vile, disgusting areas in northeastern N.J.-which I steer clear of,but the northwestern, central shore areas and some southern shore areas are actually very nice. I suppose that most everyone outside N.J. would rather see this state blown into the Atlantic by way of a atomic bomb, but it's not all bad as most people make it out to be. Title: Re: Icelandic Post by: Laguna Rising on October 04, 2007, 06:35:08 PM Hi Elwood
Good track and somehow 'mysterious atmosphere' Synth textures and rhytmics works great I'd like to visit Iceland, too. I've always been attracted to that kind of places... ;D Cheers Title: Re: Icelandic Post by: elwoodblues1969 on October 05, 2007, 01:04:46 AM Thanks L.R.,for the comments.
Perhaps we will bump into each other in Iceland one day. ;D Thom(aka Elwood) Title: Re: Icelandic Post by: Laguna Rising on October 05, 2007, 10:58:45 PM Thanks L.R.,for the comments. I do miss something like a solo line a bit, but as it is it's very atmospheric and a good choice of sounds. Cool!
Title: Re: Icelandic Post by: elwoodblues1969 on October 25, 2007, 10:31:27 PM Marc,
I agree,it needs more work & I just have'nt gotten around to polishing it up,so pardon the loose ends while I renovate this tune.... Thanks for the comment, Thom Title: Re: Icelandic Post by: Oren on December 24, 2007, 09:45:54 AM Thom,
This one has some nice elements, and even in it's current state, holds the listener's interest. A melody or theme to tie it all together and provide some direction would be a welcome addition, but messing with the ambience would be a mistake. I'm very interested to see what you come up with. Had you considered handing it over to Elv to see where a collaboration might go? Oren. Title: Re: Icelandic Post by: Moon on December 24, 2007, 11:30:12 AM This is actually a good basis for a song. Very nice indeed. So hopefully we'll get a second version of this one...

Very good Cheers Title: Re: Icelandic Post by: elwoodblues1969 on December 25, 2007, 03:31:18 AM Oren,
This piece is essentially an idea that I threw up just for s**s & giggles...I had intended to work on it further, but just never got around to it. I like the idea of collaborating with Elv,but he has been for the most part, inactive in this forum lately,so I don't know what the chances would be of that happening-especially since I have no way of contacting him. Perhaps when Elv becomes active again in this forum,I just may ask him to add some flavor to this piece. :) Thom Title: Re: Icelandic Post by: elv on January 10, 2008, 08:05:29 AM You got mail
Title: Re: Icelandic Post by: elwoodblues1969 on January 10, 2008, 10:39:50 AM You got mail as well. ;D
Title: Re: Icelandic Post by: MarioD on January 24, 2008, 08:51:23 PM This is a very interesting piece of work.
Great ambience and rhythms. All this needs is a movie as this would be a great scene maker, IMHO! Great production. Title: Re: Icelandic Post by: elwoodblues1969 on January 24, 2008, 09:08:57 PM Mario,
For a piece that still needs alot of work to it,those are some really exceptional comments...thanks! ;D Thom Title: Re: Icelandic Post by: MarioD on January 25, 2008, 12:49:45 AM Thom, I don’t think it needs that much work, as least for a movie scene. Movie scene music sometimes doesn’t need very strong lead lines, just some ambience to enhance the scene.
I think you have accomplished that here IMHO. I like this! Title: Re: Icelandic Post by: Northern_Fist on March 15, 2008, 05:05:10 AM I would like to listen to this... unfortunately, I can never download anything that is posted on this site. It only downloads 0kb mp3 files. :-[
Title: Re: Icelandic Post by: elwoodblues1969 on March 15, 2008, 05:57:18 PM N.F.,
I can't imagine why you can't download anything from this forum, since you live in the U.S.? Your also young,so I'm assuming that you have an up-to-date computer? Very strange, your situation. ??? Thom Title: Re: Icelandic Post by: folderol on March 15, 2008, 08:09:18 PM This puzzled me too. At first i thought it was just files without the .mp3 extension that was the problem (that upsets some systems)
I wonder if his machine (or his ISP) has a too aggressive virus filter operating? |
