Came into some unexpected green-via the mail,so I made a mad dash to the nearest SamAsh store & got a decent trade-in price with the Peavey, towards the Mackie mixer.
As it turned out,SamAsh had the very mixer I was looking for-used,and the mixer was in pristine condition,so I took Oren's advice & went used.
Got it for $200 bucks and man, what an incredible bargain! :-The moment I embraced this wonderful mixer and reveled in the solid weight of it,I knew I scored big with this product!
When I got this baby home,I immediately fell in love with the incredible tactile aspect of this unit...all the knobs were smooth & firm...the smooth intercourse of the 1/4" plugs sliding into the jacks brought me to rapture.
The routing capablities & the sheer number of inputs & outputs on this beast-including the 4 pairs of stereo inputs clearly revealed to me that this is the only mixer I will ever need,as it will accomodate any additions I choose to incorporate into my studio in the future.
The diagrams in the manual clearly & concisely, illustrated various configurations and connecting my effects processor to the mixer was seamless.
Mackie has a impressive reputation for clean, innovative and solidly built mixers and the VLZ series certainly lives up to the propaganda.
My studio is officially complete now,& the future purchase of a Kurzweil PC3 will be the icing on the cake of my studio.
