Some time ago I presented the Nuevo Jazz project here, and since then there wasn't any news anymore  Undecided
Still the project is more alive then ever and I have a partner for the project, my internet friend Wyatt.

Finally we have decided to make this a commercial project which will result in a commercial CD.

We will keep you posted here how the project goes forward and also post some tracks of the upcoming CD. Some of them as complete track, some of them as previews, we want you to buy the CD  Grin

So the CD will be called Neonthology
The duo : The Nuevo Jazz project
And here is the intro track of the CD, called Anthology

Look as YourBestSound.com will have a new project  Cool

Well guys,

I have to say that's one of the most original combinations of style I've ever witnessed. You have a vibe going on, something worth developing Smiley.

Which DAW are you using?

Oren.

Thanks Oren

The goal of the Neonthology project is indeed to create a new never heard style, combining 'real' instruments with electronic, breaking up standard rhythms,....
Even breaking up some bar structures Smiley Some bars in this sound are only half bars or even 3/4 of bar.
For this reason we have to play everything live, no sequencing here Smiley
It's actually not easy o explain. The great thing about the collaboration between Wyatt and me is that I didn't have to explain it to Wyatt. He felt from the start what I was thinking and how it should sound.
Beside that Wyatt has an incredible creativity. One of the tracks in Anthology is actually build from a guitar track which is reversed Smiley
Most of my sounds come from self build patches on my Clavia Nord G2X.

About daws
We don't have the same tools and exchange everything as ape file.
I'm a real hardware guy, a bit like Ellwood. When I compose, play,... I don't want to use a PC, I concentrate on playing and record on the fly on a hardware multitracker BOSS BR600, 8 tracks with 8 virtual track on each track.
Once that is done, I transfer it all to my PC via USB to do the mixing and arrangement.
My DAW on PC has for a very long time been audacity since I work with audio only. With the In a spin project, Rharv convinced me to switch to Powertracks from pgmusic. A good choice, it is amazing what that little software (price) can do.

Wyatt will certainly chime in here, explaining how he works...

Sounds like you and Wyatt are a great fit.  You two play well together.
I'm looking forward to the rest of it.
That first one was just an enticing sample.

Thanks for your comments.

Kara's original explanation intrigued me, and I really liked his idea. So when I queried him about the project, he was like, "anything goes"..now how could I resist that?? I just love "outside the box", and he really meant it! ..now that's cool.

Kara's electronic music is so full and lush. It is so perfect to fit instruments into..like weaving a tapestry of sound..awesome music to work with, even the percussion gets to be outside the box!!

I really like exploring less structured compositions..music that evolves in your ear..music that doesn't have to sound like everything you have already heard before..music that lets you respond to the moment.

I record in Adobe Audition. My PC has a mastering grade sound card, and I use a simple 8 channel mixer.

As to gear, I am primarily an instrument guy:

Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster, Fender Cyber Deluxe amp, Takamine steel string acoustic guitar,   Yamaha keyboard, 20 different harmonicas, and of course my Congas.  Smiley

Kara is so great to work with, and the momentum is picking up..I can't wait for the next song.

I love hearing things new, especially when they turn out as ridiculously unique as this. I'm not big on jazz, but I really appreciate the experimental sound. It flows to well not to like anyhow. Great music to write to (for me at least).
