Tx guys.
Kara, working with loops is more or less like composing a song, together with the other band members.
Somebody comes up with a lick on his instrument and the others, one by one make/suggest their arrangement around it. You either donīt know what they'll come up with. So the surprise factor is very high !
Then you need to mould and chew until the whole fits together well.
OK, this is rather a method used by people who donīt depend on partitures, IMO.
We have in fact so many ways to make music/songs. The most important is to enjoy what you do.
I like the sound of acoustic guitars, but I prefer to play electric. I like aquarel but I prefer painting with oil...
Take for instance Raul Midon, a blind singer-guitarist. He has a unique playing style, probably an insult to the classical positioning, but he sounds/plays amazingly brilliant and obviously loves what heīs doing !
BTW, mostly my songs are a mixture of real played stuff and ('manipulated') loops.
Cheers,
Max... .. .
PS : Interesting concept, this monthīs song contest !
Last month I couldnīt join in, īcose the local TV asked me to do a jingle for them.
