As Bob's making such a great job of the bass line, here is a little 'Ry Cooder-ish' riff that might fit in somewhere.
It's just a single 12 bars which can be copy/pasted, or not!
If you want to extend it any just let me know.

Good one James  Cool
I had to look up Ry Cooder to know who it was  Roll Eyes

A nice theme and open for developpement, exactly as I imagined it. You are in the first A section. Makes it possible to use it as the base theme and develop it somehow in the B section.

Hey, I just got Linux to play MP3s. Neat!

I'm thinking that as well as interesting instrumental themes, this tune has room for some vocal action. Maybe concurrent with the riffing to provide multiple layers of interest. There are many accomplished vocalists hereabouts...

A possible lyric theme: "Send You on Back to School", about re-educating people on what an internet collaboration blues tune can sound like. Maybe several languages, maybe some harmony action....who knows where this wind could blow, Joe!

Hey Rony!

I think the tune has taken on a little different flavor since I played the lead hammond part. So, really, I don't think it fits very well and I'm not sure I would include it. What you have so far is sounding pretty good!

I don't really have time to redo it right now....so...

I aligned it after James' Cooder thing, so it would sound like this:

Here's the .ogg in case you want it.

Let me give it a listen today and see if maybe I can come up with some ideas on how I could change what I did to help you fit better...

I think it fits fine for the song still, it's just a very abrupt change from what James did.
If you want a better fit, have Rony plug it in at the 2:40 section where the piano drops out....or cut the piano from another section.

I actually agree with Rharv
It is to abrupt to put it in the B section right at the start.
But I still think it is a good break. I'll put it in this evening and post it.
That way everybody can say what he thinks of it.

Now, Oren had a good idea ! Put some lyrics in it.
Any change we could have a vocal trio Rharv, mrharv & Oren again Cheesy ?

This is fun !

All I can do is ask the two bosses... Roll Eyes

..and yes, this is fun.  It's why I hang out here.  Collabs are very helpful in learning, experimenting, and creating.  I'd have never done that bass line without that drum track, now I learned a few other licks on bass to add to my seriously limited bag of bass tricks.  Plus I think I found a sound I like for the bass. I haven't touched anything in that setup.  Maybe I should get out the glue gun and stick those knobs right where they are at!

Rony, now you hear how it fits the progression, so feel free to do whatever you want with it, including not using it. No worries here.

I think Bob didn't use the flatted 7ths (or its my ears) which has a little bit to do with it, but mostly its about the feel....I probably should have waited until further developed to add a part.

Here we go...
I still think that the Hammond of Fred is a good break, so i put it in the right place.
What do you think ?

Perhaps some snearing (what a word  Roll Eyes ) guitar lead together with the hammond for the break ? Anyone ?

...I think Bob didn't use the flatted 7ths ....

Only occasionally on the G-A before the turnaround.  I was trying to be as basic as I could to allow as much open room for others as possible.

Here's a guitar part to back up Fred's solo (gtr1.ape)
and then a solo track to follow(gtr2)....like I could follow that..
as a matter of fact you should put his track at the end so noone has to follow it!

Just along for the ride.
Take 'em or leave 'em, no offense.
gtr1.ape
gtr2.ape

Fred- did you mean flatted 7ths (like a 'G' on the A chord)
or flatted as in a minor?
I think your part lays nice where he put it now, except Kara needs to cut out my couple piano chords that play during your lead in (my opinion)...

I tried to just fill in a bit with the guitar chords during your solo on Kara's latest version, and introduce the guitar sound into the song for the solo that follows.

"I wish my fingers weren't so fat"
quote by rharv after listening to solo.. Undecided

The flatted G for the A7 chord. Not really that important though. Its mostly how I chose to interpret our "blues" experiment  Roll Eyes.
