Wyatt,

I think the drum track is an improvement, but the periodic pauses in the bass drum & high hat, make the timing very odd....I think if you have a more continuous,disco-type percussion thing going,it would tie everything together and things would flow more smoothly.

I uploaded a sample track to give you an idea of what I have in mind, but if you feel that my idea might alter the style you were going for, then disregard my idea altogether...it's just my thoughts. Undecided Smiley.

I suppose with this idea,it would not be "blue jazz" any longer, but this is just what lept into my head,as it just seemed to fit better,is all.

Thom

Heya Thom,

..so I am thinking I will listen to this track of yours after I
finish writing this post, like it's going to take a while!!

[yes..I actually do sit there and listen to drum tracks..a lot]

Haha..I got a kick out of your 20 second single kick..yes, I think I must use this!!

So keep the kick going all the way through, eh?  I can get with that.  Grin

Thanks for pitching in.

Cool

Wyatt,

I'll be happy to do the drum track for you,but I did'nt realize you were going to actually make use of it,because it was only an idea I was originally offering.

That being said,I'll have to start it again from scratch, but first I need to know what the tempo of your song is first.

Yeah I hear that..and it's cool of you to offer, Thom, but I can manage it.

Interesting idea to keep the kick going like that, and I use HH for kit drums..
..since I haven't taken the time yet to learn Reason's drum computer.

Right now I need to set this one aside for a spell and finish a few collabs, and I am
looking forward to finally finishing *ours*.    Grin

I am also looking forward to doing another one with you whilst we are still young.

Always a pleasure,

Cool

Wyatt, I really loved the guitar work.  Top notch for sure.

One of the things that set this song apart from many others is the drum part.  I kind of like the way it is now, no offense to Thom.  I had to think about what I was hearing and that made this a winner for me.

If you do decide to add a different drum/percussion section I would still keep this one.

Thanks Mario..I appreciate your comments, and I am glad you like the drum track..I spend days on them. I am trying to find the balance between creatively making them interesting, and just keeping the beat going.

I have also developed another step to my production procedure. After a couple hundred listens to the mix, my ears are trained to hear the huge amount of stuff I tend to end up putting in there. So now my last stage is to cut, cut, and cut again..so that it is more approachable on the first listen.

Now all I have to do is escape from my yard work long enough to finish our song, and I will have it made.  Smiley

I'm still liking version 1  Huh Cheesy

The second version has it's own merit, but to me, sounds overly cerebral. Bring back the shark!

Thanks for your comment.

I continue to try to do the impossible..to try to listen
at the end of the process as if I were hearing it for the first time.

Hi Wyatt,

wow! This is very original and so creative.
I enjoyed a lot the listening.
The new drums are better but I agree with elwood that you can improve it.
Anyway, this is a superb piece of music  Afro
It shares a special mood, this little "+" that makes the diference between entertainment and Art  Cool

Bring back the shark!

..yeah..I will get back to this as soon as the dust settles..

..my studio is looking like a grenade went off in here, and I
am still trying to finish up contest collabs.

My finger is out of the splint now, so it won't be too much longer.

Mario,

Thanks again for your comments.

Let's make it simple and do this with a poll: everyone who is member can vote once on their favourite song, this will determine the winners.

It also would simplify the maths for Kara  Wink
