Who? Me?

A little while ago I made a comment that these days all my sunrises were shades of grey. Sombody picked up on that and said it'd make a good song title.

Lately, as I mentioned in yet another thread, I worked out how to use Zyn. 'kits' to make multi-layered sounds, and the first of these is now pretty much as I want it.

This evening I was noodling around on the keyboard, using my new patch and a few chord sort of stuck together. So here is a sound test of my new 'Master Synth' patch playing the first rough of 'All My Sunrises (are shades of grey)'

If you have a poem, I have a tune, and we exchange these, we can both have a poem, a tune, and a song.

That "Zyn" flexibility allows for creating a very personal sound.

This particular combination of tones and reverberant qualities reminds me of one of those big old-school organs played in an empty church.

Oops, and double oops. I uploaded the wrong version - very sorry. The correct one is there now.

It's Oren's comment that alerted me. The reverb & phasing are quite wrong for a church Smiley

@Wyatt
Yes I will get to work on this as soon as possible. I promise it won't take more than 5 years Grin

Apart from the beautiful sounds.....this has the makings of a wonderful melody.
Why don't you try writing some lyrics to it to fit the title?   'Twould make a great song.

Thanks guys for your encouragement.

@James.

I think you're doing that mind-reading trick again.

I''m not really a songwriter but have started to put something together. I've got three verses roughed out and will probably end up with four. I'm using the excerpt I posted as one verse and the full title forms the first line and the last but one of each verse.

Whether I'll ever be able to sing it is another matter. It's turning into a very sad and poignant song Cry

Will,

This latest version is totally beautiful.

I can't wait to hear what you end up doing with it.

Two things that really got me hooked on sound and music: a big church organ when the place is empty and reverberant, and the sound of my Grandfather's 9 1/2 horsepower Evinrude outboard boat motor.

This Zyn thing blows them both away. wOO

I really am very excited that there is so much interest in this song. I've now got a complete outline although it needs a lot of work.

It needs a proper bass line, and I'll have to adjust the instrumentation to some degree so it it better supports (rather than competes with) the vocal. I've made a recording with my own vocal - it's nowhere near good enough but I hope it gives an idea. These days my voice is about as stable as a jelly Sad

The song starts in C and modulates to F, but if James (or anyone else) would like to sing this, then just let me know what keys you are most comfortable with and I'll transpose it.

The Lyrics:

4 chord intro

All of my sunrises are shades of grey,
Now that I'm on my own.
There's no laughter,
No joy now,
You left me behind.
Gone where I can not say.
So all of my sunrises are shades of gray,
Now that you've gone away.

All of my sunrises are shades of grey,
You were my only love.
In our springtime,
We'd run through,
The meadows and streams.
Oh how we loved to play.
Now all of my sunrises are shades of grey,
The meadows have all turned to clay.

All of my sunrises are shades of grey.
We loved each other so.
We were honest,
And faithful,
Through trials and pain.
Though we were poor, we stayed.
But all of my sunrises are shades of gray,
No riches would help me today.

4 chord key change

All of my sunrises are shades of grey,
I said goodbye in tears.
Though our children,
Are with me,
I know they must go.
They have their own lives too.
So all of my sunrises are shades of grey,
There's nothing for me, without you.

This song has realy a lot of potential.
I would love to play bass on this but don't have the time. In 3 days I leave in holliday for 3 weeks, so I don't want to promis anything I can't do. But there are other good bass players here, so I'm sure somebody will do it.

I'm realy looking forward to the final version of this song.

I would love to try this.
If it's not too much work could you send me an outline in G and A, please.
I'll also do the bass.
