...just looking for clues...

« on: November 13, 2008, 09:50:05 PM »

I've been going on (here and there) about what an under-rated instrument the electric bass is, and how a competent bassist can cover much of the territory normally serviced by drums and rhythm guitar....etc, etc, Tongue

After years of holding down the bottom end in bad bars, with marginal music, bad beer, and too many cigarettes, the taste for the bass was gone, for me.
Now it's back      http://www.godinguitars.com/godinfreewaybassp.htm

Some delay, flanger, and reverb... one take, no overdubs.

Oren,

Is this bass riff your creation..or just a website demo?! I hope that it is yours,'cause this beautiful little ditty is very filthy & witty-right down to the nitty gritty & it says to me...AUTOBAHN CITY!!

There has never been an Autobahn collab as of yet,but I am hoping to change that as of now, with this very piece!

I'm really aching to run with this amazing bass riff...whaddya think?

Thom,

That's just me working over variations on an E chord. You're very welcome to use it, but there was no click-track, so the beat could be (OK, most likely is Cheesy) all over the place. If you'ld like the full-size .wav version, I'll put it up on the FTP site for you.

Thanks for listening - it's a great bass!

Oren,

Yes...please send me the WAV version! Um...FTP? I'm familiar with YouSendIt & Box.net...perhaps you may have sent me something from FTP in the past, but I have no recollection of it.

In any event, send it any which way you can brother! Cool

Thanks,

Thom

Wyatt,
You have a way with the language Cheesy!
I'm here to emphatically state, however, that bass players are not just a hunk of pulsing bone and muscle... until we strap the bass on, that is... Afro
