Hi, I'm a country, rock, and bluegrasser. For the past two years I've been writing and producing instrumentals of different kinds. A lot of them are like this one that I call "Through the Gate." To me, it's like movie music or "program" music, similar to New Age but more "orchestral." So if you please, give it a listen and tell me what the heck I'm writing? Thanks. Mike

I can tell you it ain't country and it ain't bluegrass either. It's a very nice orchestral piece. It has a nice melancholy feel that I like. Some orchestral pieces are just that and do not convey any emotion. That's how I experience it quite often. This piece does and that's an accomplishment in itself. Nice use of sounds and effects as well. Enjoyed it.

Thanks for the kind words. It was done with an EMU Proteus and a freeware download syth. I'll check the files and find out which one. When I do strings, I run the same midi files through two or more string sounds so they don't all warble at the same time. Sometime this year I might get one of those orchestra samplers.
Thanks again, Mike

Mike,
That is a really nice orchestral piece..evokes images..yeah, it's kind of like a soundtrack.
Adventurous territory..I'm a guitar picker myself, and this sort of music has caught my ear and turned my head more than once. Very cool..Keep up the good work.

I agree with Wyatt. It evokes images, I don't know why but I imagined Castles while listening to this Piece I would describe this as an Orchestral Piece. Very nice arrangement and melody

I'd call it a nice piece of music. It's very dramatic and would fit nicely onto a film soundtrack. Thanks for sharing.

Unfortunately, I can't get it to play on my system. Maybe you could try a re-upload.
