You all know, by now, how I like things a bit on the dark side .....
Well ... I got this lyric from the same guy who did my last one, Breathe Deep.

He said "A lyric about a writer whose attempts to write that career defining novel are being rudely interrupted by the noise that surrounds him!"

Got my drummer, Nigel, to lay down a track for me to develop this on. Not quite finished yet but all seems to be going the way I like it.

Murder Mile
(Intro)
Words drip off the page
Their bloody splatter drives me insane,
The only person dyin' here is me
As words drip off the page.
(Verse 1)
Bastards serenade me
with their shouting and cursin',
Kicking bottles on a noisy street
And It's my ears they're hurtin'.
(Chorus)
Livin' on the Murder Mile
Tryin' to write
Tryin' to raise a smile,
First drafts scrunched up
Lie in a pile,
Cos I'm livin' on the Murder Mile.
(Verse 2)
The girls next door taunt me
With all the love they're makin',
I imagine the contortions needed
For these walls to be shakin'.
(Chorus)
Livin' on the Murder Mile
Tryin' to write
Tryin' to raise a smile,
First drafts scrunched up
Lie in a pile,
Cos I'm livin' on the Murder Mile.
(Verse 3)
Editors harass me
'til I'm far beyond breakin',
Deadlines loom like days of execution
It's my head that's left achin'.
(Chorus)
Livin' on the Murder Mile
Tryin' to write
Tryin' to raise a smile,
First drafts scrunched up
Lie in a pile,
Cos I'm livin' on the Murder Mile.
(Verse 4)
Sirens interrupt me
Just as I am reloadin',
Those bastards squeal like little girls
Their booted feet are runnin'.
(Outro)
Words drip off the page
Their bloody splatter drives me insane,
The only person dyin' here is me
As words drip off the page.

Well now. This is very well done, but I can't say I exactly 'enjoy' it. A very heavy sombre song Cry

If you have a poem, I have a tune, and we exchange these, we can both have a poem, a tune, and a song.

Well James I also like them dark and this is very very good wOO wOO wOO

Your vocals and instrumentation is spot on IMHO and I really can't hear what else could be added.

I believe this style fits you perfectly.

Did I say that I really really like this one wOO

PS - I bet you would do one hell of a job on St. James Infirmary!

Thanks Mario.
You may be right about StJI but I very rarely do covers unless there is a good reason.
