Title: what is MMA?
Post by: RockBottom on October 07, 2006, 06:38:51 PM
Sorry for being so dumb, but — quickly googling for MMA yields:

• MIDI Manufacturers Association
• Maine Maritime Academy
• Malaysian Medical Association
• Maldives Monetary Authority
• Malta Maritime Authority
• Maritime Museum of the Atlantic
• Marketing Management Analytics
• Massachusetts Maritime Academy
• Massachusetts Motorcycle Association
• Massachusetts Municipal Association
• Medical Marketing Association
• Medical Mountain Affliates Inc
• Mennonite Mutual Aid
• Michigan Manufacturers Association
• Middle Management Association
• Minnesota Music Academy
• Missouri Military Academy
• Mixed Martial Arts
• Mobile Marketing Association
• Modified Motorcycle Association
• Multimission Maritime Aircraft
• Music Masters' and Mistresses' Association

And so on... So just what is MMA?

Okay: I've found this link http://users.xplornet.com/~bvdp/mma/ and everything is much clearer now.

Hey, I have to admit that it was I who caused some of this naming confusion. But, unfortunately there is a limited number of pronouncable short names available in English ... so, yes these things get to be recycled as you quickly found with your search ... I've thought a number of times that a "better" name would be nice ... but then I look and find most of my ideas already "taken". So, we're sort of stuck with MMA .

And after working on this project for way to long I have no intention of fixing my brain to use a different name :) And, please, do remember that the program is "Musical Midi  Accompaniment". "MMA" is just a shortening of the full name.

I know, not at all more clear .. but, I got my name in the thread :)

Bob.
