Title: Another 'traditional' song
Post by: offthewall on June 11, 2013, 08:34:13 PM
Still trying to help my lovely LadyD to get her voice back into shape after too many years break.
We got another one of those big projects on the cards which is taking a whole lot of time to put together.
In the meantime we are keeping in practice with some traditional songs.
There have been many versions of this Northumbrian song, which comes from the 1820's, but the one which took her attention was actually featured in a film based in the local area.
The film song featured a young girl singing to piano accompaniment and, unfortunately, the only sections which came out above the dialogue were the introduction and first verse. The rest was demoted to the background.
As I am not at all comfortable with this sort of piano technique I called in the services of our own Thom.
His keyboard skills are almost as legendary as his 'spooky' way of being able to listen to a piece of music and analyse it to the point of perfection.

So, here we have my LadyD accompanied by Mr Sneddon.
This is first draft and there may be more additions as time goes on.
The Snow It Melts The Soonest.

Thanks Will,

Really indebted to Thom.
Couldn't have done it without him.

James,

Glad you were able to supplement the parts I was unable to hear in the latter part of the film piece...your cutting and pasting really did the job well! 8)
Kudos to your wife's lovely performance as well! 8)

Glad you enjoyed this rendering guys, thanks! :) I was a bit uneasy about how this would turn out, being that about half of the original piece was inaudible.

Thanks for your 'animated' comment, Oren

And ... once again I got to sing the praises of this superb musician who can decipher the most intricate work with just his own two ears  :o
