heres a song idea..
called "maniac for your love".
bout a guy going "postal"..lol.
(v ruff short mp3 attached.)
idea is for a very commercial song.

concept is an arena rock song.
las vegas intro idea.
(intro//build up much longer than what ive got in the example.)
bass starts off with drums,
then gradually other instruments come in.
keys/rh geetar etc etc.
then evil rock vocals.
vocs being a combo of evil low n high vocs.

another way to do it arrange wise is to keep it
"low key" as i have it..then where current mp3 ends
the whole band comes in "full bore".
viz..ie a soft low key start to the song then "FULL BORE ARENA ROCK". etc.

if anyones interested hit me up ,
n we can talk bout arrangement etc etc.
please "hear thru the ruff " in your head to what it might be.
think "arena rock".  might  be a fun giggle.
ps..i did the ruff quik for folks that have mini earbuds.

Hey Ed,

I'm liking the idea.
Wot I'm hearing is more 'Tom Petty' with your low-key start, using jangly acoustic guitar and simple monotone bass, then as you put it "FULL BORE ARENA ROCK".

I'll have a go at that intro later when I get some time. Do you have a BPM for this?

otw.
originally i heard the low vocs more evil mate.
i can do the low vocs in many different styles.
more evil, less evil..more straight etc etc.
or more MOR.
twas a straight 120 bpm mate.

i like your idea of jangly acoustic/monotone bass segueing into
FBAROCK.
many ways to do it mate.

feel free to do a full 3mins arrange etc.. if you wish mate.
what it needs also is some cute hooky chord changes.
i just started it off only cos i didnt want to impose my ideas too much.
and was interested wot others came up with.
in a few hours i'll see if i can come up with further changes.
as your prolly aware i'm always looking for song "hooks"
n something to give a song an edge.

generally i hear the song starting off "soft" then gradually building
to arena rock heavy etc.
sorta idea being a bloke who's got so many troubles his brain
is going crazy. that sorta idea. sorta acdc arena rock idea mebe ??
many arena rockers often start off with just a simple bass n drum riff for example
to set the pace etc.
thus one way to do it might be to start off drums n bass,
then acoustic jangles come in perhaps ??

kara..
re tommy...so you think it might be a bad song concept mate ??
if its a bad song idea just tell me. i always stay open
to critique etc. i just hear in my mind an arena rock concept.

so on this idea i might be wrong.
i got zillions of other song ideas. too many..lol.
as the song lyrics say "i got too many song ideas".

heres maniac v2 attached.
adding to the concept.

the idea being after i yell "here we go"..
all hell arena rock breaks loose..crank it..lol.

its ruff..no time for mixin,
but if you listen over mini earbuds youll get the idea.
as always blast the idea if you wish.

 Cool
Ed,
I did this before seeing your update.

All just a sketch.  We have acoustic guitar and bass intro (12bars); verse, ideally with no drums, with electric guitar slowly creeping in (16b); chorus, drums starting, with elec building (8b); verse repeated (but should be a second verse) with elec and bass increasing to build tension (16b); chorus (8b); then additional Chorus/Bridge (12b) with NO drums for 8bars; then back to verse/chorus (16+8b) .... then whatever you like  Roll Eyes

See what you think.

OTW.
WOW..NICE IDEA MATE.
YEP !! sorta southern "swampy" in places ..me likey.
heres an idea..
at 2min2secs where you start
"i'm a maniac"...
that piece of vox in my mind i hear ending at
at 2mins 12 secs.
so it goes like this..
I'm a maniac.
maniac .
maniac, maniac..FOR YOUR LOVE <<scream.

how bout that idea ??

(by the way that maniac vox idea above is a  gonzo idea you had.)
ie shorten it a bit ??
so it ends at 2mins12secs.
ie..the old songwritin trik...
dont give the punters all at once..tease..lol.
THEN after that point at 2mins12secs...
a short soft bluesy lead ?? sorta swampy ??
THEN...
we go REAL HEAVY per maniac v2
starting where v2 starts at 58 secs with "HERE WE GO" etc...
are you ok with that idea mate ??

if your happy with the above ideas, ya wanna do a ruff arrange ??
tell me if ya want any of my traks on their own.

OTW.
attached is a full ruff arrange mergeing
both our ideas to illustrate wots in my mind.
ie..starts off soft n gets heavy n then ends up soft.
please critique etc etc.
twas difficult cos pasting bits from both our ideas..
but i'm sure youll get the feeling.
the leads just a place holder etc.
god bless. ed.
ps..of course there will be new lyrics for verse 2..
"crazy sounds in my ear etc etc"..

OTW.
no probs mate.
take yer time.
i can see it now in the arena.
song starts with a spotlight shining on you playing a lonely acoustic
guitar, then rest of band comes in softly..
then things gradually get heavier n heavier, then at the end once again
spotlight shines softly on you to end the song playing your acoustic.
this is the sorta idea i had in my mind when i did the arrange.
me..i'll be the crazy english bloke dressed like a nut bar
in some monks or friars outfit hiding behind the amps cos i'm ugly..lol.
