Dust

A composition by 87 PM.
Marc asked me to write the bass line for it. The original lyrics are in English but for the concert Azell adapted it to french....
This is the full band performing live
- Percy : Drums
- Marc : Keys
- Mr. Moon : Strings & pads
- Kara : Bass
- Azell : Vocals

Video at : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V52zHwaq8Do
At the end of the song you can hear me improvise on my proper bassline  Wink

Excellent work. Full of foreboding. Azell must have had a hard time singing with difficult pitching of the melody.

It is indeed a great song, but not easy to sing

It was great performing this song with Mr Moon and Kaaz! We always had more of a 'band' performance in mind when writing this song so it was cool to for once leave the loops at home and play all the parts live.

(Well - there is a pulse loop playing throughout the song to have a rhythmic base and a synthy layer but we probably could have even left that out).

This was a bit difficult trying to listen to the fine details with all of the boominess of the recording, but an interesting piece nonetheless...great job everyone! Cool

Thanks Thom, we always have a lot of fun playing together.
I know the audio is of so-so quality, this because it's the audio from the camcorder. There where no audio recordings made of the show

Finally had a chance to enjoy this performance. wOO

It was cool to hear Percy on drums. I'd like to see it performed again, with Kara on electric bass...

Next show we do together, I'll do it on bass
Actually I wanted to do it on bass the first time, the song is pretty easy since it (was) in A, so nice to wander up or down to E.
At the last moment we decided to transpose it 2 tones down to G since it was a better fit for the voice of Azel.
The lower bass note became then a D, something you really don't like on a four string.....
If we keep it in G, I'll just down tune my bass to play it.

Shocked Woh! Tuning down two semi-tones - makes for nice loose strings; easy on the left hand... Grin
