Dear all,

I'm afraid I have some bad news: this forum will dissapear at the end of the year.

The web hosting company is clsoing it's book and is ending it's services by the end of this year.

I've tried to migrate the forum to a recent version, but this didn't work, leaving me in the postion where I can't keep this forum with it's content alive.

I can setup a new one. Let me know if you guys want to start from scrath.

Well, that is very sad news.
I know I'm not very active here these days but I do check in almost every day and try to keep an eye out for any problems but, like the rest of us, I have some very fond memories of people and events from this special place.
A couple of years back I had similar issues with my hosting company, for my own personal site, and found it extremely easy to migrate to https://hostpresto.com/
They are so helpful and left no stone unturned in facilitating my migration even though my technical knowledge for that sort of things was very slim.
Anyway, if things go as you say then I would like to thank you for everything you have done to keep the place alive since the sad demise of your brother.
All the best to you and to all who have crossed paths here at Kara-Moon.
 Cry
James.

First and foremost I would like to thank you Moon for keeping this forum going for so many years.
There hasn't been much going on here for a number of years now so I think it is time to put it to rest.
I have made new friends here and I would like to wish them all the best.

Very sad to see this. You've done a remarkable job keeping this up and running for so long.
I fully support whatever you decide to do, and will keep looking in here while it's still open.

Is there a way to export the forum to save it offline? Or backup the database?

For anyone who wants to stay in touch I already left my email.
If anyone wants somewhere new to hang out to make music you can always try:
https://www.kompoz.com/

Got to admit it's not as good and open as it used to be but is still one of the best music places around.

IF anyone wants to keep ip to date with what I work on you can always check out:
https://hyperfollow.com/offthewallmusic

Best of luck to all of you, my long-time friends.
It's been a great ride over the years and been sad to see so many of our contemporaries slip away.

In A similar vein, I've greatly enjoyed my time here, the friends I've made and a number of collaborations I joined in with over the years.

I also occasionally post on KVR - particularly the Music Cafe contests.
Another Music site I'm on is the Sound-On-Sound one - a very friendly place.

I have a few tracks on Soundcloud, but don't much like the way it seems to be going.

These days, I put much of my own work on bandcamp. I like the setup where listeners get several free plays of any tracks, and if they like them enough can then pay a small amount to download them in a high quality format of their choice.

So, best wishes to you all in the coming years, and never forget:
You can take people out of music, but you can never take music out of people.

Will.
I'm quite intrigued by Bandcamp but can't seem to find the information I want about it.
Wonder if you might be able to point me the right direction?
I see the ease of use, and benefits, for solo performers but is there anywhere for the way I usually work?
That is, to list songs by 'groups' of people who are not necessarily a 'band'.

Unfortunately there isn't.
Bandcamp needs a single identity (a person or company) for notifications, and possible payments which have to go via paypal.
Having said that, it has the unique property of allowing you to set zero as a minimum payment - which I've done with my tracks on a number of occasions.

Well, I'll keep dropping in here as long as we're going and if Mr Moon does start a new group elsewhere I'll join in.
