Guitarist , Blues , Rock 46 years exp . Saw Elvis on Ed Sullivan show and wanted to play the guitar at six. Started trying to playing guitar in 1965 at 13 with a play along to The Ventures record ,lost the record but am still trying to play guitar anyway. I told my grandma that when I grow up I want to be a musician! She said you cant do both! Played for George McGovern benefit in Austin (Jerry Jeff Walker was there!)Played at the first white blues club on 6th street in Austin (the lamplight inn) with Uncle John Turner and the Texas Sheiks, Uncle John(John recently died)(John and Tommy were on Johnny Winters First Album), lil Bruce Bolens(Vocals),Tommy Shannon ,Jack Morgan [the best live guitarist I ever met ,I heard he died(insert sad face)] and some time Keith Ferguson ( The most fun bass guitarist I ever met,he died too!)it wasn\\\\\\\'t my band but in Austin back then everybody jammed with everybody else.Played every sat night for 2 years at the One Night club in a band called the Sugarland Blues Band . Jimmy Vaughn [Storm]played there every Monday night with Doyle Bramhall Sr (great vocalist drummer)and a great harp player Lewis,jammed with them a couple times! Jammed with Stevie Ray Vaughn at the Rome Inn ,Played with George Underwood and the Dukes ,Holy Katz(know where Pasha is?),Roy Coyote,Clarence Clemonds at the Armadillo World H.Q. with Steam Heat ,jammed with the old members of Point Blank ( insert sad story of record label ripoff),Jim Dandy,opened for Georgia Satellites,John Mayall ,Jeff Healey,jammed with at Freddie King at Mother Blues in Dallas. Played in Johnny Taylor\'s band,jammed with Bugs Henderson ! I love to play the Blues the most ! Have played Blues ,Rock ,Country ,Reggae ,and Funk in bands. |
